Thankfully this fear proved to be, mostly, baseless. I've enjoyed a lot all the shorter works of his that I've read, so this one was one of my most anticipated releases for this year (the others being the third Tide Child book, and the third Age of Madness book), but I was also afraid that Clark's obvious mastery of the shorter forms might not translate well to a longer story. First full-length novel in the magnificent Dead Djinn Universe, and Clark's first full-length novel in general.įor those who haven't read the previous Dead Djinn stuff, don't be afraid this one works perfectly fine as a standalone, but even if you don't want to go in blind the most important other entry is A Dead Djinn in Cairo, which is very short and available online for free (and also it's great).
